1 - “L’ITALIA SONO ANCH’IO” (“ME TOO, I BELONG TO ITALY”): UISP AND THE PROMOTERS OF THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE RIGHTS OF CITIZENSHIP FOR MIGRANTS RECEIVED BY BOLDRINI

On the 3rd of May, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini, met the representatives of the promoter organizations of the campaign for the rights for migrants “L’Italia sono anch’io” (“Me too, I belong to Italy”). The Uisp’s delegates were Raffaella Chiodo Karpinsky and Gianluca Di Girolami.

“Our requests were numerous – says Chiodo – precisely because we know Boldrini’s sensibility about these questions. We asked her to give heed to struggles which she sustained during her previous role in the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. We also ask to give credit to the specific weight of the signatures which are being collecting. She wanted to highlight the spirit who characterizes the new Parliament, more disposed to hear this kind of requests, hoping that it will encourage a parliamentary discussion about the two drafts of law associate to the campaign. She ensured us that she will do her best in order to foster the goals. It is beneficial the appointment of Cécile Kyenge as Minister of the Integration, she is from the beginning in the first line in this campaign. Kyenge is also a good friend of the Mondiali Antirazzisti Uisp”.

The two drafts of law we are talking about, with more 200,000 signatures until now, if approved, would introduce the Italian citizenship for the migrants’ sons who are born in Italy (now they have to wait until their eighteenth birthday to apply for citizenship without any guarantee of obtaining it), and the right to vote in the administrative elections for the foreigners who are resident since 5 years. Uisp, together with other 21 organizations of the civil society, is a member of the promoter committee of the campaign.

“The problem of the rights of the so called second generations closely concerns our sport societies – Chiodo adds – Boys and girls who, although they are born and grew up in Italy, are not considered Italians, they are not allowed to participate to the championships of the different Federations. We are struggling so as the sport will become a right for everybody and to allow these boys and girls to play without facing obstacles which often are insuperable”.

2 - BICINCITTA’ 2013: 150 ITALIAN MUNICIPALITIES RIDING, ASKING FOR SAFER CITIES AND ALTERNATIVE MOBILITY. Interventions of D. Ceccaroni and M. Tossini

May is the month of two wheels, with the Giro d’Italia and Bicincittà, that will have its main day on Sunday 12th.
On this Sunday, Bicincittà will have place in the largest part of the 150 Italian cities that adhered to the event. A big party of sport for all the family, a not competitive initiative to occupy urban centers and to ask for clean air, safer streets and cities more liveable.
Bicincittà will be one of the initiatives of the National Day of Bicyle, promoted by the Ministry of Environment.

“Bicincittà is an historical Uisp event, born almost 30 years ago to create awareness about the importance of a sustainable mobility and active lifestyles – said Davide Ceccaroni, president of Uisp Cycling League - It’s a tool that Uisp uses to create a contact with the institutions more receptive, to reiterate that it’s possible to talk about urban planning thinking also considerino bicycle as mean of transportation. Today we need to give an answer to the requirements of cyclists and pedestrians”.

The main slogan of Bicincittà, like for the other national events 2013 of Uisp, will be “Reduce, reuse, Recycle”, to focus attention of sports world to the topic of separated collectionand reduction of wastes: gadgets of the events will be a canteen and a little bag produced with recycled plastic.

Bicincittà will raise funds for the international project of cooperation “Lontani da dove? Educare alla mondialità”: training courses for operators about topics of integration and multiculturality, and activities in the schools to educate new generations.

3 - CAPITAN UNCINO (CAPTAIN HOOK), UISP PROJECT INVOLVING CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAIL BOAT. THE FINAL EVENT IS PREPARING TO LAUNCH

Uisp project Capitan Uncino (Captain Hook) are coming to the closing phase.

Approaching the moment of the final event: the launch for all sail boats will be in Santa Marinella (near Rome). The boats were built by groups of boys and girls from the eight cities involved in the project: Como, Ferrara, Tricase (Le), Avola (Sr), Salerno, Gaeta (Lt), Civitavecchia (Rome) and Livorno. The event is scheduled for Saturday, 18 May: will be the launching of the boats to test for the first time the navigation.

Paola Bottoni is the coordinator of the project in Ferrara. We asked her to tell us about the experience: "We are coming to the end of this beautiful project: the kids are running out of paint the boat and the realization of the sail. The project participants are about 20. Some guys have mental disabilities. For this situation we have chosen to give more space to practical activities. The goal is: a project followed by everyone".

4 - LAW ON DUTY TO OWN DEFIBRILLATORS ALSO FOR AMATEUR SPORT CLUBS HAS BEEN APPROVED. THEY HAVE THIRTY MONTHS TO SUPPLY WITH THE INSTRUMENT

Italian ministry for Health adopted a law Decree on the issue of defibrillators and medical certificates for non agonistic and amateur sport activities. The law is not still active, but has been published a summary on ministry website.
Sport amateurs clubs have 30 months to supply with defibrillators, that must be used by people who attended trainings with Regional credit. The ministry is working because a credit obtained by a Region become valid for all regions.

Regarding medical certificate for non agonistic activities, it is foreseen that Uisp clubs and associations must require a certificate by general doctor, who must at least measure blood pressure and make an electrocardiogram. Special rules are foreseen for who runs over 20km, or attends a Grand fondo (more or less 100 miles marathon) of bike, swimming and sky.
