Sport on the field against discrimination

Five thousands young people from all over the Europe, 170 football teams and 60 more among basket, volley and rugby, 400 matches non-stop, 24 sport pitches proceeded in Bosco Albergati Park, in the periphery of Castelfranco Emilia (Modena): these are some numbers of 19 edition of Mondiali Antirazzisti Uisp, that will be from 1st to 5th July.

Kickoff of football tournament is on Thursday July 2nd at 3 PM: from this moment will start non stop matches, self refereed, with mixed teams composed by migrants, ultras, girls and boys from many Italian and foreign towns.

This year news: collaboration with Aic – Italian football players association, that will attend the event with an own team and with his president, former player Damiano Tommasi, who on July 3rd at 6 PM will contribute to debate “Diamo un calcio a questo calcio” (Let’s give a kick to this football). Together with him: Renzo Ulivieri, president of Italian association of football coaches; Vincenzo Manco, Uisp National president; Luca Di Bartolomei, journalist; Carlo Paris, director of Rai Sport; Matteo Marani, director of Guerin Sportivo, Cécile Kyenge, European parliament.

On Saturday July 4th at 5 PM, English writer and former hooligan Cass Pennant, already hosted in 2010 edition of Mondiali, will present in ultras debate area his last movie “Beverley”, tale of a teenager with African origins in the 80ies, who fights for recognition of her identity.

Big attention to comics and music world: 2015 poster is drowned by famous comics artist ZeroCalcare, that also announced his presence. Among concerts: Modena City Ramblers, on Thursday July 2nd at 11 PM.

Mondiali Antirazzisti are organised by Uisp – Italian Sport for all Union, in collaboration with association Città degli Alberi, Matteo Bagnaresi Foundation, Fare (Football against racism in Europe) network, and with support of Emilia Romagna region, Castelfranco Emilia municipality, Aic - Italian association of football players, Hera Group and Cgil.
