Uisp Reggio Emilia: l'integrazione vince il campionato

Sports success for the "Sports Club Zelig-Marenostrum" , born from the collaboration between the amateur sports association "Zelig" of San Rigo and the social cooperative House of Abraham, leader of the network that includes Ceis, Pope John XXIII social center and the cooperative Ballarò in the extraordinary reception of asylum seekers. The team formed by migrants won the provincial soccer championship Uisp amateurs . A story halfway between sport and integration, which saw the team born on September 2016 win as part of an integration project involving young boys from different African countries (Gambia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea, Ghana and Cameroon).

The Polisportiva Zelig has been active for over 25 years, "all dedicated - explains Riva - to the promotion of aggregation activities between people of every age, ethnicity, religion and culture, and in this sense we have pushed in a particular way, thanks to Uisp, on sport and above all on football, universally known and practiced, economically accessible to and based on teamwork, understanding, mutual help, desire to establish oneself with commitment, with respect for rules and without forms of prevarication ".

The Polisportiva Zelig-Marenostrum, which Riva defines as "multi-racial national", launched its October to October 2013 and is guided by a strictly Afro-Reggio tandem, composed of by Yaressi Bourama and Gianfranco Fontanili. "Being together, sharing workouts and matches, being protagonists of new social networks, Biasola says - has cemented new friendships, has made them grow mutual trust and also allowed a better understanding of the complexity of the migration phenomenon, allowing us to overcome those prejudices, those tendencies towards rejection or those exploitations that grow when we don't meet, we don't talk and we don't share ".

Particular satisfaction is expressed by the Dimora d'Abramo social cooperative, which welcomes young Africans participating in the project. "This team - underlines the president, Luigi Codeluppi - represents one of the examples of excellence of those paths of integration between people and culture that can and must guide the reception, avoiding not only tensions and conflicts, but also going beyond those cohabitations on which often dominate the sense of strangeness and climate of suspicion ".
