SPIRITS

Thanks to the SPIRITS Project -Skills Improvement of Prison Inmates Through Sport Education- the UISP Committee of Ciriè Settimo Chivasso collaborates for the first time with another Territorial Committee in the implementation of a transnational project. We are talking about UISP Alessandria, which has always been involved in the rehabilitation and assistance of prisoners through sport.

The expertise of our Committee in international planning, combined with the great experience and passion of UISP Alessandria in sports in prison have laid the foundations for a project of great importance, with the aim of training young sports instructors in this specific area. The staff of the two committees and that of the partner associations had the opportunity to acquire new good practices from different countries, as well as to glean valuable advice from those who work within prisons and are in close contact with prisoners every day.

An out of the ordinary experience, which involved young people from four countries, who had the opportunity to touch the prison environment first-hand through organized visits to the prisons of Alexandria, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora.

As already mentioned, SPIRITS takes the form of a somewhat particular project compared to those to which the Ciriè Settimo Chivasso Committee is accustomed. In this case, in fact, we didn't find ourselves dealing with children and adolescents, but with adults: SPIRITS is in fact aimed at training operators who carry out voluntary work within detention facilities, in order to use sport not only as a means of emancipation, but also of social redemption
