Project Name: SPRINT – Sport Inclusion and Tolerance

Summary SPRINT is a transnational Erasmus+ project dedicated to promoting social inclusion and tolerance through sport, particularly focusing on children and young people living in residential care or with disabilities. Coordinated by UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso (Italy), the project brings together partners from Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary to exchange best practices, develop training resources, and empower professionals working in grassroots sport and social inclusion. By using team sports and participatory events, SPRINT promotes personal development, mutual respect, and physical wellbeing.

Main Objectives

  • Encourage participation in sport for children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Promote social inclusion through grassroots sport and inter-cultural dialogue
  • Provide training resources for educators, sport instructors, and care professionals
  • Strengthen cooperation among European organizations working in sport and social care
  • Create transferable tools and methods for improving tolerance and citizenship via sport

Key Activities

  • Research and Needs Analysis: Mapping the challenges and barriers to sports participation across partner countries
  • SPRINT Sports Meeting (Plovdiv): Exchange of good practices and initial workshop with professionals and stakeholders
  • SPRINT Study on Sport for Social Inclusion: Survey and qualitative data collection among caregivers and youth across four countries
  • Digital Platform: Open-access hub to share project materials, resources, and best practices
  • Manual and Video Outputs: Compilation of successful practices, tools, and training modules developed by partners
  • SPRINT European Seminar (Torino): Final public dissemination event with panel discussions, workshops, and presentation of results

  • Translation and dissemination of materials in Bulgarian, Romanian, Hungarian, Italian, and English

Legacy & Impact

SPRINT offers an inclusive, community-driven model for using sport as a tool for rehabilitation, emotional development, and social integration. Through its digital platform, manual, and video outputs, the project continues to support trainers, educators, and institutions across Europe. By involving local clubs, educators, and volunteers, it creates lasting awareness and changes attitudes toward children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
