The activities of the Pad4Youth Project continue

We are going into the middle of summer, but the activities of the UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso Committee do not stop. While on the territorial front the commitment is on the Multisport Summer Center at Cascina Oslera in La Mandria Park - which will continue until 4 August - the European part is not being neglected. Last week, for example, ample space was given to the activities of the Pad4Youth project, with an event held at the "Luigi Bosio" camp thanks also to the availability of the affiliate of the Committe, U.S Borgonuovo Settimo.

"With the end of the school year, we decided to take advantage of the holiday period to organize a series of targeted events, in order to give free padel lessons to children aged between 6 and 14" explained the Director of UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso Roberto Rinaldi, who also holds the role of European Project Manager within the Committee. The aim of Pad4Youth - promoted by the Federación Pádel de la Comunidad Valenciana, leader of the project - is to encourage the integration of children and young people with psychophysical difficulties and/or at risk of social exclusion because they come from unfavorable economic backgrounds. In addition to the Territorial Committee, also the Ginásio Clube Português of Lisbon -Portugal- the non-profit organization l'España Se Mueve of Madrid -Spain- and the European Institute for the Development of Sport, Kinesiology and Health of Umag, in Croatia. For this project, lighter rackets - weighing 200 grams - low-pressure balls and height-adjustable nets specially developed by the Valencian Federation are envisaged. On the day in question there were about twenty participants, who with great enthusiasm, initially learned a series of preparatory exercises for the game of padel: from the correct grip of the racket, to the exact position of the feet, passing through coordination exercises - such as catching the ball with the non-dominant hand - and then moving on to mini-challenges on the playing field.

“We have always supported sport as a privileged means of integration, especially among young people. Sporting activity allows those who practice it to compete in a healthy way, above all because the UISP world does not pay too much attention to results, avoiding favoring a competition that could have very negative results. In this way, however, teamwork is strengthened, favoring socialization. As already mentioned above, this period is also particularly propitious for operating on our target of competence, since families cannot always afford to send their children to a Summer Center" Rinaldi further reiterated. A beautiful day dedicated to sport and sharing, which will be repeated throughout 2023 and for the first part of 2024, when Pad4Youth will come to an end.
