Memtrain

MEMTRAIN was born from several studies that prove the connection between cognitive impairment and hospitalization, consequently sedentary lifestyle. The resulting mortality has highlighted the growing need to find ways to improve the health and well-being of people in this age group.

The main objective of the project was to share the knowledge and experience of various professionals in order to create a handbook that will be used to promote healthy ageing. Physical activity was combined with cognitive activity by organizing a ten-week program, guided by a trainer, and a short online course that can be consulted from home.

Treatment was also different for people aged 55-70 and for those over 70, with instructors having been trained for both situations. The UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso Committee, in particular, has made its already specific AFA (Adapted Physical Activity) course more aerobic to encourage the collection of new data.

The project was structured in four main events in which the partners met: the initial one which took place in Prague, a second meeting in Gdynia, after the first draft of the manual, a third following the completion of the pilot test, and the final meeting still in Prague, to discuss the results of the project and its further diffusion, with the participation of five elderly people.

Project started in October 2016 and ended in September 2018
