My Bike, My Culture, My Collio’ on 7 May will be a 25 kilometer bicycle tour into Slovenia.

My Sport is Franja event ‘My Bike, My Culture, My Collio’ (La Mia Bici, La Mia Cultura, Il Mio Collio) on 7 May will be a 25 kilometer bicycle tour into Slovenia. For Italian participants organizer UISP (Italian Union Sport for All) arranged transport to the start in Cormons by train and bus

The My Bike My Culture My Collio tour will visit several cultural heritage sites, among which the recently restored Villa Vipolze in Slovenia.

UISP has made a five day long program around the bike tour which takes place Sunday 7 May. On Thursday 4 May there will be a training course for touristic cycling guides. The next day there will be an educational tour through Cormons with European touroperators. On Saturday there is a ride by historical steamtrain, a guided visit to monuments, an exhibition and presentations.

On Sunday there is the actual My Sport is Franja event My Bike My Culture My Collio. The 25 kilometer long tour will go from Cormons to Slovenia, where the region Collio is called Brda. In Sovenia Villa Vipolze will be visited. After that there is lunch in Capriva after which the tour ends back in Cormons.

UISP started cooperation with train company Trenitalia, railway Udine-Cividale and buscompany APT. Due to this cooperation it will be possible for participants to travel to Cormons with their bike on the train and bus. UISP has opted for this to avoid the use of cars and to make the event extra environmental friendly.

Program

Thursday 4 May: Training course for young Ciclotouristic guides. Organisers: UISP and AMIBIKE Italia.

Friday 5 May: Educational Cormons. Touroperators from France, Austria, Slovenia, Norway and the Netherlands will be invited to participate in this educational program in Cormons, in order to present the territory of Collio-Brda: history, culture, tradition, food and wine, specific services, bike routes. Hospitality and expert multilingual staff will be offered to the participants by the organizers of the event (Uisp and Cormons Municipality).

Saturday 6 May: Steam & taste. Steam train: departure from Trieste at 9.00 stop in Monfalcone and then arrival in Cormons at 11.00. At the arrival flag wavers of Palmanova and cyclists of K2 group with historical costumes. Guided visit to the most important monuments, and exhibition of artists of the Circus all’in Circa.

Sunday 7 May: Bike tour La Mia Bici, La Mia Cultura, Il Mio Collio. This is the Italian event foreseen inside the project My Sport is Franja, the bike tour (25 km) will have an international character: from Cormons through the Collio, reaching Brda and Vipolze then back to Capriva for the lunch and then again back to Cormons.

This event is linked to the UISP historical event Bicincittà, which goal it is to promote the use of bikes for families and elderly. In 2017 Bicincittà will be dedicated to the promotion of cultural heritage through the bike, linking it to the European project My Sport is Franja.
Program of the day: 09.00: opening registration. 10.30: departure from Giardini della Pace.
11.00: visit Preval church.12.00: visit to the Vipolze house which is restored with EU funds and is now an info centre for the Slovenian territory. 13.30: lunch in the Parco Capriva del Friuli. 16.30: arrival in Cormons.

Participants coming from different areas and countries will have at their disposal special trains on which it will be possible to transport bikes: Timetable: Sacile – Cormons starting at 07.25 arrival at 08.35, (60 bikes) Carnia – Cormons starting at 07.55 arrival at 08.50, (30 bikes) Trieste – Cormons starting at 08.00 arrival at 09.00 (60 bikes) Tarvisio – Cormons starting at 08.00 arrival at 09.10 (30 bikes) Portogruaro – Cervignano starting at 07.50 arrival at 08.20 (30 bikes) Cormons – Tarvisio starting at 16.50 arrival at 18.05, Cormons – Sacile starting at 17.05 arrival at 18.15, Cormons – Trieste starting at 17.18 arrival at 18.13, Cormons – Carnia starting at 17.30 arrival at 18.25 Cervignano – Portogruaro starting at 18.00 arrival at 18.30.

There will also be a special bus for bike transport Cervignano – Cormons starting at 08.40 arrival at 09.10. Grado – Cormons starting at 08.30 arrival at 09.00. Cormons – Cervignano starting at 17.10 arrival at 17.40. Cormons – Grado starting at 17.20 arrival at 17.50.
