Health promotion

In the agenda of health institutions, health promotion is taking on an increasingly secondary role compared to the treatment of pathologies, in a picture of suffering of the entire health system. Sedentary lifestyle is a millstone, as are all forms of psychosocial distress, starting with adolescents.

Our country is falling behind in the GDP/health expenditure ratio, the philosophy that gave rise to the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), the Italian “whatever it takes”, that is, a push for the common good, for everyone’s needs, seems to be moving away rather than getting closer. We affirm all this with concern. But also with the awareness that Uisp has always paid great attention to the issues of health promotion and active lifestyles, at all ages. We will continue on this path by inspiring new projects and intervention programs, at European and national level and in the constant relationship with the Italian Regions.

Currently 70% of the Italian population lives in cities, the population is aging and the demographic trend reminds us how important active policies are for the elderly population, but also how much there is a need for physical experiences for children and adolescents who are increasingly immersed in the online word. Uisp is aware that making sedentary people active can also benefits the communities in which they live: doing physical activity and sports with Uisp will make them feel better, will make their civic sense, their active participation, their "feeling part of" stronger.

This is a system task, to be carried out with Regions, Municipalities, Health Authorities and the third sector. This involves growing sports activities, integrating them with policies thanks to processes of development of skills, clarity of thought, ability to listen in the contexts in which we operate.
