Overall objective of the project is to contribute to the eradication of homophobia, racism and other forms of discrimination (xenophobia, anti-Semitism and anti-Roma) with and through football.

Specific objectives of Football for Equality project are:

  • using the popularity and universality of football as a unique entry point to raise awareness on racism and related forms of discrimination
  • (xenophobia, islamophobia, anti-Roma racism and anti-Semitism) and on homophobia.
  • to address and link areas of combating racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism on the one hand and the fight against homophobia on
  • the other hand.
  • to promote and improve intercultural understanding in particular among young people in the European Union.



Main activities implemented are:

  • Training seminars for operators and managers of sports organizations;
  • The organization of sporting events to raise public awareness on the subject (EuroGames and World Antiracist Championship);
  • The organization of national campaigns on sport against homophobia;
  • The Action week.



The project has produced an exhibition entitled "Against the rules", a journey through the stories of great athletes who fought a bad homophobic tradition, created in collaboration with the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation (EGLSF), which for two years has been touring the area thanks to the local Uisp committees that promote activities, conferences and various events on this topic.
