SUMMARY:

Through the project, UISP intends to enhance the role of sport and physical activity in the processes supporting the achievement of the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, pursuing a strategic objective aimed at planning, experimentation and implementation of the "Sports Transition". The Sports Transition is an innovative approach to emancipate sport, transforming it from a complementary tool for achieving social and economic cohesion objectives to a priority for the implementation of territorial planning and regeneration processes. The aim is to promote the concept of sports mainstreaming, a process to qualify sport in public policy and a strategic tool to support processes aimed at social promotion, health protection, sustainable development and economic growth, with particular attention to the most disadvantaged territorial contexts such as the "suburbs" of cities and the "internal areas" (that is, that part of the Italian territory characterized by a significant distance from the centers offering essential services).

OBJECTIVES:

General Objective:

  • Planning, testing and implementation of the "Sports Transition" to enhance the role of sport in relation to health, social inclusion, respect for the environment, and support for the economy.

 Specific Objectives:

  • Promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles to reduce the risk of disease and improve general well-being;
  • Support the redevelopment of spaces in consideration of sporting functions to help make cities more sustainable, livable and inclusive;
  • Reduce the carbon footprint of sporting activities and promote sustainable practices, such as the use of renewable energy, waste reduction and the adoption of eco-friendly transport options;
  • Enhance the educational function of sport; strengthen sports accessibility processes for frail and disabled people;
  • Promote the inclusion of people of all ages, genders, abilities, races, ethnicities and socio-economic conditions in sport;
  • Activate development processes aimed at qualifying sport and physical activity in an "innovation ecosystem"
